Hello my friend,
How are you doing today?
There are so many things that I learn from my kids every day.
Lately, I have been learning about the power of using time wisely.
In two months, my second daughter transformed from a tiny 3.4 kg newborn to a 6 kg 2-month-old. Cute across all phases of growth.
But I realized that it was not really time passing that caused the transformation. It was what we did with the time.
Daily feedings, daily cultural dances so she can sleep, countless intervals of tummy time, and daily confessions of GOD’s word over her. These are some key things that went into those days, and that is what led to her growth.
Thinking about this reminded me that time passing is not what brings progress to our lives. It is what we do with the time we are given that brings progress—intentional actions.
This is why it doesn’t make sense to me when someone says, “I am just whiling away time.”
No, you are not just whiling away time. You are wasting time.
I remember when I was pregnant with my second daughter. I spent a lot of time wondering how I would navigate caring for two kids amidst my other commitments.
My Pastor shared a piece of advice that I’ll never forget: take advantage of the little pockets of time.
So I started taking the opportunity to:
Pray while loading the laundry Dance and praise GOD while dancing to put my baby to sleep Read my bible while nursing Respond to emails while rocking my baby
And lately, I have discovered how productive I can be at work with a baby carrier.
There are so many things you can do in 5 minutes, but you are looking down on it – “it’s just 5 minutes.”
But you can read a page of a book in 5 minutes. You can read a chapter of the Bible in 5 minutes. You can pray in 5 minutes. You can send that email in 5 minutes. You can even take a 5-minute power nap!
It is never a case of time not being enough, but a case of how you are using your time.
Is your use of time aligned with your priorities?
Are you using and taking advantage of the little pockets of time that open up as your day goes by?
Time itself doesn’t change things; wise use of it does.
Good News 🥳
The JCI Top 10 Outstanding Young Persons of Nigeria Award came home! I’m deeply grateful to everyone who voted.
Today at the event, I met someone who wants to support our work. This is the kind of visibility that changes lives for our kids. Thank you for making this happen!
Don’t forget to take advantage of the pockets of time in the coming week. Okay?
I’ll see you next time. Till then, stay fabulous.
With Love, Aramide.
