Hello my friend,
How are you doing?
Today I found myself inside a Yaba bus heading to Office Oyingbo. I was on my way to Ondo Street in Ebute Metta West to buy some new school furniture for our kids.
On my way, I kept calling my friend to ensure I do not get lost in the heart of Oyingbo market. I trekked so much today because I got off at the wrong stop and I didn’t want to take another bus.
I could have taken a ride, but I wanted to go the ghetto way and I loved it.
While I was trekking, I was thinking about my life and the decisions I have made so far, and I just felt so grateful.
I have made some mistakes in the past, but I have made far more good and life-changing decisions than wrong ones.
I have been living purposefully since I was 15. I was in 200 level at the time, and I just knew that I didn’t want to live an ordinary life.
I wanted to live a life that made sense! You get me.
I wanted more, so I started binging Mrs Ibukun Awosika on YouTube. What that did for me was that I was learning everything she knew as a 50+ year old woman when I was just 15.
The more I learned from her and others who had gone ahead of me, the better my life choices became, and the fewer mistakes I made.
Many times, these choices have been very hard, but they have always paid off. They might have been very unconventional and inconvenient at first, but today, I am glad I made them.
If you are young, don’t take the easy way out. They say that experience is the best teacher, but it doesn’t have to be your experience. Give yourself to learning.
You can be young and wise - not because you have lived for so long or because you have many experiences, but because you have learned from those who have gone ahead.
There is hardly anything I want to do that I do not seek advice or support from a coach, mentor or trusted expert.
If you are going to live a significant life from a young age, you cannot spend the most part of your time/life making the same mistakes that those who have gone ahead of you have made.
Learn from other people - seniors and peers and use it to move further faster.
Experience is the best teacher, but it doesn’t have to always be your experience.
Okay?
